DISK FORMATTING
It adapts to the operating system before using a new memory disk in which every sector of the storage device is examined.
Formatting divides a disk into two or more parts called a ‘disk partition’.
Data already present on disk is not destroyed during formatting.
DISK COMPRESSION
Reduces data size by compressing data stored on the hard disk.
DISK FRAGMENTATION
When storing a file on a disk, the computer first stores the file in an empty space.
The disk is divided into different pieces so its speed decreases.
The Disk Fragmentation program is run to speed up the disk so that the files are in a tidy state.
DISK CLEANUP
To increase the capacity of the disk by removing disk impurities and unnecessary programs or data.
FILE MANAGER
Information or data stored in one place is called a ‘file’.
A folder is created to hold one or more files in one place.
File and folder management software is called ‘File Manager’.
BACKUP UTILITY
Data is lost due to damage to the memory disk.
This is called backup utility’s program to prevent the data from being stored in a separate memory disk.
ANTI VIRUS
Software used to prevent viruses is called ‘Anti Virus’ software.
